Cranfield University Student Accommodation, Bedfordshire
Vallectric were appointed by Watkin Jones to provide the mechanical and electrical services installation to this new build student accommodation scheme, which comprised of 613 student study bedrooms, including amenity spaces. The systems installed included low energy lighting, general power, fire alarms, boosted cold water, a gas fired hot water system, electric heating, ventilation and emergency call systems. The scheme commenced in July 2020 and will be complete in September 2021.

The Barracks Student Accommodation, Stirling

Holiday Inn Express Extension and Upgrade, Wimbledon
Holiday Inn Vallectric were appointed by Willmott Dixon Interiors to install mechanical and electrical services to a new extension at the Holiday Inn Express, Wimbledon. The works were carried out to a fully functioning hotel and had to accommodate staff and hotel residents throughout the duration of the contract. This included the repositioning of the existing plantroom, which meant running two systems of plant simultaneously in order to provide continuous heating and hot water for the hotel. We installed a new air source heat pump within the existing car park area and new lighting, power, plumbing, heating and ventilation to the 57 new bedrooms, which were built as part of the hotel upgrade. We also refurbished the reception and dining room and adjacent facilities as part of the upgrade works, all whilst the hotel was in full operation.

Waste Transfer Centre, Doncaster
Waste-Transfer-Centre Vallectric were appointed as a sub-contractor by Willmott Dixon to carry out the mechanical and electrical installations to a new build Recycled Waste Transfer Facility for Doncaster MBC.
The installation included full M&E services to the waste transfer shed and administration building, including car park column lighting and a mist system.

Multi-Storey Car Park for Sainsbury Store Support unit, Ansty Park, Coventry
Sainsburys Car Park Vallectric were employed by Goldbeck Construction to carry out the M&E services to a new build car park for Sainsburys’ Store Support Centre at Ansty Park in Coventry.
The works consisted of lighting and power installation, including column lighting to roof deck area.

Woodhouse Lane Car Park Refurbishment, Leeds
Vallectric were employed by Willmott Dixon to carry out the lighting and fire alarm upgrade at Woodhouse Lane Car Park in Leeds in order to provide important car parking facilities to serve the new First Direct Arena. Vallectric had previously carried out the first lighting upgrade in the 1990’s, at which time a lighting award was given by the Council for the scheme.
The works were completed whilst the car park was in use and as such important phasing of the works was utilised in order to keep the car park operating 24 hours a day. This obviously had extreme challenges keeping the car park sufficiently lit for safety and security throughout the course of the contract. This was achieved with minimum disruption to the public right up until the handover to Leeds City Council.

Weidenhammer Warehouse and Offices, Bradford
Wiedenhammer Vallectric were appointed by Goldbeck Construction to install the mechanical and electrical services to a new warehouse facility for the Weidenhammer Packaging Group in Bradford. The works consisted of high level lighting, a large distribution infrastructure and power supplies for the end user’s plant and equipment, mechanical ventilation and heating to the warehouse and offices.

St Mark’s Square, Bromley South
Vallectric were appointed by McLaren Construction to provide the mechanical and electrical services to the St Mark’s Square project in Bromley. The scheme consists of a 130-bed Premier Inn, 400 space underground carpark and a leisure plaza containing a 9 screen multi-plex cinema and various food outlets. The scheme is due to be completed in late 2017.

Scarborough Leisure Village
Vallectric were appointed by Willmott Dixon to provide the mechanical and electrical services installation at the brand-new Scarborough Leisure Village. The scheme consisted of an eight lane 25-metre Olympic legacy swimming pool, sports hall and fitness centre, as well as the all-weather football pitch and spectator stand that is home to Scarborough Athletic Football Club. The works consisted of lighting and power installation, heating, ventilation and cooling systems to the function area, pool, gym, changing village and sports hall areas. The works were completed for the start of Scarborough AFC’s new season kick-off in July 2017.

Eldon Leisure Centre, Newcastle
Eldon-Leisure-Centre Vallectric were employed by WFC Contractors to carry out the M&E services to a new bowling alley and gym at the existing leisure centre within the Newcastle City Centre Eldon Shopping Centre.
The works consisted of lighting and power installation, including sprinkler system and ventilation to new bowling alley and gym.
The works were completed whilst the leisure centre remained in full operation with an element of the works being completed outside normal working hours to accommodate the continued operation of the facility.

Westgate Leisure Park, Aldershot
Westgate Vallectric were appointed by McLaren Construction to provide the mechanical and electrical services to the new Westgate Leisure Park in Aldershot. The park was an important part of Aldershot’s regeneration and as such was subject to high media interest. The works included an 88 bed Travelodge, a multi-screen cinema, retail outlets and supermarket.
The scope of works included the full M&E installation to the Travelodge and landlord services to the retail units, including lighting, precinct lighting, fire alarms and fire suppression system to the underground car park for the supermarket and hotel.

Kingswood Activity Centre, Doncaster
Kingswood Activity Centre Vallectric were appointed as a sub-contractor by Willmott Dixon to carry out the upgrade and refurbishment of the existing mechanical and electrical installations at the disused Earth Centre in Doncaster, in order for the facility to be re-utilised by Kingswood Activity Centres as a learning and activity visitor’s centre. The scheme also included the fit-out of five new accommodation blocks and the upgrade of the natural water treatment plant.
The Earth Centre closed in 2004 and Vallectric were employed to inspect and re-commission and put to work the existing systems including lighting, heating and ventilation labyrinth system and the plant associated with the natural water treatment systems. The works were carried out within a strict budget and timescales to accommodate the client’s opening date for school bookings that had been made prior to commencement. Many of the systems were of a specialist nature as part of the Earth Centre’s original brief and we therefore had to employ specialist companies to return the systems to their full working state.

Public Authority Buildings
Boiler Plant Replacement, West Park Leisure Centre, Long Eaton
West Park Vallectric were appointed by Erewash Borough Council to provide the upgraded mechanical services to the West Park Leisure Centre. The work comprised of the removal of the redundant plant and equipment, the modification of the existing gas supply and distribution pipe work complete with sub-meters within the Plant Room. Vallectric supplied and installed new boiler plant, which comprised of two boilers and new flue installations. Included was the installation of new pump sets, a new building management control system, all new gas LPHW pipe work and water services systems. All associated electrical installations including new plant room distribution systems local to the plant room was carried out by our electrical team. Out of hours working was also required to ensure that the works did not affect the day to day running of the leisure centre.

St John’s C of E Infants School, Dewsbury
Vallectric were appointed by Kirklees Council to renew the central heating system, fan convector heaters and hot water distribution systems at St John’s C of E School in Dewsbury. The work was carried out over the summer holiday period and was completed within strict timescales to enable the return of the pupils and staff for the new term. The contract included working around the school’s furniture and equipment with the careful removal of the existing pipework and plant and the renewal of the systems including the building management system control panel, making good existing surfaces and minor redecoration to the satisfaction of the school staff. All works were completed on time and within budget with very positive feedback from our client.

Horton Park Primary School, Bradford
Vallectric were employed as a sub-contractor by Willmott Dixon Construction to install the mechanical and electrical systems to parts of the existing school buildings and also a new classroom block extension. Elements of the works were carried out during school term time and accommodated the full occupancy of the facility by phasing the works in such a manner as to minimise any unavoidable disruption. Also as part of our works was the requirement for a 42 panel photo-voltaic system to the new roof area.

Greenfield Primary and Darfield Upper Schools in Barnsley
The works for both schools were completed within the school summer break and comprised of the removal of the existing coal fired boilers and chimneys and the installation of new gas boilers, including upgrading the gas supplies, pipe work connections to and from the isolating valves, the removal of the existing control panel and the replacement with new including the provision of a Trend Building Energy Management system, plus all the associated electrical works to the connections, including testing and commissioning.
